20 weeks and Baby Girls!!

It's official - Brandon and I are expecting two Baby Girls!! On Monday January 30th we went in for our Anatomy Ultrasound. Both of us were excited to find out the sexes, but more than anything excited to just see them. The ultrasound got started with Baby A. The first image we saw was the spine. About 20 minutes into the ultrasound I started to get very hot and dizzy. I thought it was just my anxiety. However, the room started to turn black and I thought I was going to pass out. I told the tech and he stopped the exam and let me sit up. Upon sitting up I decided to get sick so they grabbed the garbage can for me. The tech grabbed me some cold water and Brandon just held my hand telling me I was OK. The feeling passed and I laid back down and the exam continued. However, a short period went by when the feeling happened again so we once again stopped the exam. I apologized to the tech and told him I was embarrassed. He told me no need to apologize, this happens. Due to the fact I was laying on my back I was hitting a nerve and cutting off the oxygen supply to myself. The babies were taking everything. He told me to stop the exam as much as I needed to. I ended up stopping the exam about 6 times before the tech let me adjust slightly and roll a tad on my hip to get the oxygen back. I also ended up closing my eyes and just holding Brandon's hand to feel better. So I missed most of the ultrasound, but Brandon got to see it all. The tech also made a CD for us of all the images since I was unable to really see them. He was very patient and understanding. The funny part was during the exam the tech was having a hard time taking all the pictures because our baby girls were very active and would not stop moving around. As Brandon said it looked like they were dancing or conducting an orchestra with their arms. The tech said he had not seen such active babies. At the end he asked us if we wanted to know the sexes which we of course both said yes. We found out we were having two baby girls. Both Brandon and I got emotional and shared a very special moment. These two humans had turned from just babies to our baby girls. Of course Brandon predicted all along it was two girls while I thought it was one girl and one boy. The tech said both babies are doing great, very healthy, and growing at the same rate. They are now sitting side by side with Baby A on the left side of my stomach and Baby B on the right side. Baby A heartbeat was 149 and Baby B Heartbeat was 156. Two healthy baby girls. Brandon and I could not be more excited.
We are now 20 weeks and in a little over 3 months our baby girls will enter the world. In the meantime we are busy planning the nursery, registering, and thinking of names. We meet with our Obstetrician on Friday Feb 10th. We cannot wait. 3 months will be over before the blink of an eye. Watch out world- pretty soon there will be two Newell girls running around.

IT"S TWINS

The news is out.. Brandon and I are expecting twins. We could not be more excited. We found out the exciting news on my birthday of all days. I knew I was late and had taken a pregnancy test which was positive. We called the doctor and they told us to come in to confirm the pregnancy. So we went to the Doctors on my birthday to have an ultrasound. The lady performing the ultrasound said there is the baby and showed us this little dot on the screen and measured the heartbeat. The heartbeat looked like a lightening bug. We were beyond excited and just staring at one another with joy when the lady announced and I see a second heartbeat. We both quickly turned to her and said what did you just say. She said you are pregnant with twins. I thought Brandon was going to pass out!! We were absolutely shocked and could not believe this. We left the office and called our parents to share the news!! This was the best news of our lives and we couldn't wait to share with the rest of the world. We kept the big news a secret through the first trimester just to make sure all was OK. We knew we were coming home for Christmas and decided to make the big reveal then. Before that we took a trip to Texas to visit my Aunt, Uncle and Grandparents and revealed the news to them. It was such a wonderful and personal moment that I will always cherish. So on Friday December 23rd we had an early birthday celebration for Brandon with friends and family. After everyone had been then for a bit Brandon made a toast thanking everyone for coming and shared the big news that I was pregnant and oh yea by the way with twins. To see the faces of our friends and family was overwhelming and just the happiest time. I wish I could have got it all on video. So now the news is out and we can share all. Over the course of the pregnancy I will be posting pictures of the growing "bump" as well as any pictures of the babies from the ultrasounds. We absolutely love our babies already and cannot wait to meet them in person.

Christmas 2011

Christmas is our favourite time of year. Nothing makes me happier then decorating the house. We did things a little backwards this year. We actually started decorating the inside of our house in the middle of November. In Canada people start decorating for Christmas the first part of November. We thought we would go to the store and buy a few things for the house, but convinced ourselves we would not start decorating until December. However, we got so excited Christmas shopping we came home that night and started taking down all the fall decorations to put up Christmas stuff. Brandon put up the lights and decorated the front yard while I was at work one day. He did such an amazing job. We finally got our tree this past weekend and put the finishing touches on the tree tonight. We had to let the tree sit and thaw out as we have had quite a bit of snow here and the tree was frozen. Now that everything is all done I just want to lay by the fire and stare at all the beautiful Christmas decorations. It does not get much better than this!!

My Birthday

Another year, another birthday. This year I turned the big 28!! Can't believe how fast time is going. Brandon surprised me and took me to Banff for the weekend. Those that have not been there should definitely make a point in going. One of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Banff is about two hours from our house. We woke up Friday morning and Brandon had two dozen roses sitting on the counter for me. It was the first snow fall of the year (how fitting on my birthday). We got in the car and headed to Banff. We stayed in the Banff Fairmount Hotel. It was a rather large hotel. The perk was they have a small hotel within the big hotel. We were on a private floor with our own concierge, etc. It was breathtaking. We spent the day walking around, and just admiring the beautiful mountains. That night Brandon made reservations at an Italian restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner. It was such an amazing experience and I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband who loves me unconditionally and spoils me. Truth is it would have been the best birthday no matter what because I got to spend the day with Brandon.

Thanksgiving in Canada

Happy Thanksgiving. This was the first year we did not spend Thanksgiving with family. It was very different, but we decided since we couldn't go home we would celebrate in Canada. Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving in October (hence everyone having Christmas decorations already done). Brandon was in Arizona during Canadian Thanksgiving so instead I spent the day with Angie ( a friend of ours that moved up here from Kentucky. Her husband Allen coaches with Brandon as well). We decided to make breakfast and had lots of yummy food. We knew we could not celebrate American Thanksgiving on the actual day as I had to work. So we decided to throw a party on Saturday November 26th. We made invitations and invited 25 people not sure who would come. Everyone decided to come and check out what American Thanksgiving was all about. We decided to split the cooking with The Cox family (Angie, Allen, and their two kids Payton and Koby). We made a menu and split it in half. On our side we had Turkey, Stuffing, Gravy, Cranberry, Mashed Potatoes, dinner rolls, green bean casserole, corn, salad, and desert. We got up Saturday morning and started the cooking. We spent the day cooking, setting up the tables and chairs, and preparing for a fun night. Around 5pm everyone showed up ready to eat!! We had so much food we were running out of room to set stuff. All together there was Turkey, Ham, Gravy, Cranberry, Green Bean Casserole, Stuffing, Sweet Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes, Home made mac and cheese, corn, fruit salad, salad, dinner rolls. And to top it all off we had 4 different deserts and ice cream. We all set down at the table to eat and Brandon started the meal with a  toast thanking everyone for coming and wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. It was the start to a wonderul evening with friends, good food, laughs, and lots of memories.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

On August 22 Brandon and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary. Hard to believe 2 years has already gone by. Time flies when you are having fun. 2 years ago I married my best friend and have been living my dream ever since. Brandon is the best husband, my strength, my everything. He makes me want to be a better person. I feel truly blessed to have so much love in my heart. And to think on our first date I told my mom I was going to marry him. Sometimes you just know. We did not do much to celebrate our anniversary as we were at home with family. However, Brandon and I celebrate our love everyday. We look forward to celebrating the many anniversaries to come.
