Brandon got the opportunity of a lifetime to become the Director of Baseball for the Dawgs Baseball Academy in Okotoks, AB. We decided to take a chance and move to Canada. We rented a U-Haul and packed up all our belongings. All of our stuff was split between our parents house and two storage sheds. Who knew that two people could accumulate so much stuff. We packed the U-Haul from floor to ceiling and there was not an inch of room left. As Brandon likes to tell everyone we could not have fit another baseball in the moving van. We spent a few days saying goodbye to all our friends and family and then came the day to start our new adventure.
On Sunday May 1st we left for our new home. We wrote a list out of all our belongings and grabbed our paperwork to cross in Canada. We said some tearful goodbyes to family before getting into the moving van and heading for the border. Brandon drove the U-Haul and I followed behind in our car. We were nervous about crossing the border that they would ask to look through our U-Haul. We were not sure we would be able to even open the door and were afraid they would unpack a bunch of stuff leaving us to load it all back in. As we pulled up to cross they brought us inside where they looked over our paperwork as we sat and waited. After 3 hours of sitting there they said we were good to go. They never looked through any of our stuff. We got our work visa's and started our 12 hour drive to Okotoks. We drove 6 hours the first day and stopped at the Best Western in Salmon Arm for the night. We got up Monday morning to finish the drive. After another 6 hours we arrived in Okotoks. We pulled up to our new house and jumped out with smiles on our faces. And so our new adventure in Okotoks begins...
